This garden was inspired by the 1100 Altituded Wetland, located in Seogwipo, Jeju.
1100 Altitude Wetland has basalt bedrock which plays a role to collect rainwater on the wetland. And this site was designated as a Ramsar Wetlands in 2009. It is not only a precious place to show Jeju's unique geological characteristics but also a habitat to supports rich biodiversity, including Jejudo maackia (Maackia fauriei), a tree species native to this area.
We removed underutilized footpath and a lawn having lack diversity, and bulit a raingarden. Visitors can now enjoy a comfortable walk along a decked trail, feeling the moisture of “Gotjawal” forest and the freshness of “Oreum” meadows in Jeju island.
